HIMALAYAS , THE RISING ELEVATIONS
Himalayas ,The Rising Elevations :-
When we talk about environment in south Asia we go to the significance of Himalayas .
The name Himalayas's comes from Hima which means snow and Alaya means abode . Himalaya the house of snow .
The Himalayas is standing for thousands of years and has become an attraction and challenging to mountaineers and for the peoples of South Asia it has great importance as they are literally , climatically , religious and environmentally connected with Himalayas.
Snow Capped Himalayas
The Himalayas has the highest mountains in the world . It has about or more than 110 peaks having rising elevations of 24000 feet or more above mean sea level .
The highest peak is Mount Everest with the elevation of 8849 metres (29032 feet ) above mean sea level .
The Chinese name of this peak is Qomolangma Feng , Nepali called it Sagarmatha and Tibetan call it Chomolungma .
The Himalayas a great mountain system is standing as barrier between the Plateau of Tibet to north and plains of the Indian subcontinent .
