  Makalu Peak , The  Peaks of Himalayas:- The Makalu Peak is having elevation of 8481 metres above mean sea level and it is fifth highest peak in the world . Beautiful Morning view of Makalu Peak  This peak is located in Mahalangur mountain range of Nepal , South East of Mount Everest is in the border between Nepal and Tibet . Snow cladded Makalu Peak Makalu word is taken from Sanskrit , ," Mahakal" which indicates Lord Shiva.  It is an isolated peak in four sided pyramid shape . The Fourth highest peak ," Lhoste" of Himalayas

  The Fourth highest Peak of Himalayas,"  Lhoste " Fourth Highest Peak of Himalayas  Lhoste  The Himalayas 's fourth highest peak in the world is 'Lhoste ' .   It is 8516 metres above mean sea level. In feets it is 27940 feet .  The Lhoste peak is situated on the border between Tibet in the Autonomous region of China and Nepal in Khumbu region . Snow cladded Lhoste Mountains  It is called South Peak as it is connected With South valley from the Everest . It is first ascent by Fritz Luchsinger and Ernst Reiss in 18 May 1956 and in winter in 31 December 1988 by Krzysztof Wielicki . View of Himalayas Lhoste peak  This peak was attempted to climb in ,1955 by International Himalayan Expedition , headed by Norman Dyhrenfurth  but due to unexpected strong winds they could not succeed and turned to North West face of Lhoste about 8100 metres above mean sea level.

  The 3rd highest  peak  in the world:- The 3rd Highest peak in the world "Kangchenjunga is also spelled Kanchenjunga is 8586 metres above mean sea level . In feets it is 28169 feet . Kangchenjunga Peak of Himalayas  We find this peak in in the Eastern Himalayas on the border of Sikkim , North Eastern India and Eastern Nepal . This mountain comes in Greater Himalayas. View of Himalayas Kangchenjunga The rocks of this Himalayan range is of Neoproterozoic to Ordovician age. This period is about 445 million to one billion years old . It's name is combination of four words of Tibetan origin. These are :- Kang - Chen - dzo - nga . It means " Five Treasure of Great Snow ." Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world . The Mount Everest falls in Nepal and Tibet . Mount Everest was first climbed by Tenzing and Hillary in 1953. The range in which it comes is Khumbu Himal range. Initially Mount Everest was named peak XXV but later it was named after the name of British Surveyor General to India.   Outer Himalayas The Shiwalik Hills :- View of Shiwalik Hills Jammu  We have already studied about outer Himalayas . These hills are formed by the deposits by the rivers flowing from higher Ranges . Shiwalik Hills Himachal Pradesh  Those the hills of outer Himalayas are called Shiwalik Hills but as per the location their names are different as per Location . The Shiwalik range in Jammu region are called Jammu hills . u In Arunachal these hills are named as Dafla hills , Miri hills , Abor and Mishmi hills. Uttarakhand Shiwalik range  When we come to Utrakhand the Shiwalik range are called The Dhang range  and Dundwa hills.   Trans Himalayas :- We know   the mountain range named "Gangdise-Nyenchen Tanglha range " this is Transhimslaya  . Beautiful View of Nyenchen Tanglha Mountain range  The Transhimslaya  falls in China ' India  and Nepal  ,its le ngth is about 1600 Km extending from West to East parallel to the main Himalayan range . Transhimslaya is comprising Gangdise range to the west and the Nyenchen Tanglha range to the East . Nyenchen Tanglha range in Transhimslaya  The Transhimslaya is formed about 2.6 million to 66 Million years ago . Transhimslaya is made up of volcanic and Granite rocks of Neogene and Paleogene age .

  Himalaya :- Outer Himalayas :- After going through the High lights of Greater Himalayas and Mid Himalayas we are having a sight on Shiwalik range. Beautiful View of Shiwalik Hills  Shiwalik Hills  :-  The Shiwalik range is also called Outer Himalayas. The outer Himalayas are  located between Great Plains and Mid Himalayas or Lesser Himalayas. The altitudes of this Himalayan range lies between 600 metres to 1500 metres above mean sea level . If we come to the expansion of Shiwalik range it also runs from Potwar Plateau to Brahmaputra valley about 2400 Kms . The Southern slopes of of this Himalayan range are steep while Northern slopes are gentle .   Himalaya:-  Lesser Himalayas or Mid Himalayas :- Beautiful View of Lesser Himalayas Previously we have studied about the Great Himalayas or Himadri , in this post we will see  the Himachal or Lesser Himalayas . It is also called Mid Himalayas . The Mid Himalayas or the lesser Himalayas is the Himalayan mountains range which exists in between  Shiwalik range in the south and the Greater Himalayas in the North. It almost runs parallel to Greater Himalayas and Shiwalik range.   Himalayas   Himadri or Greater Himalayas :-   We know that Mountains cover 25% of the earth 's surface . Our Himalayan mountains are recently formed young fold mountains. These Himalayan mountains streched over the northern border of India . These mountains run from river Indus in the west  to the Brahmaputra river in the East . They form an arc shape and they cover about 2400 Kms . The width is about 400 Km in Kashmir and 150 Kms in Arunachal Pradesh . Himadri range Mt.   Formation of  Himalayas :-    In this blog let us understand about the formation of Himalayas .  There are two theories which explain formation of Himalayas  :- One is "The Geosyncline Theory " and the second one is " The Plate Tectonic Theory " Let us understand the first one which is explained by a German Scientist Kober, according to this theory  About 541 millions to 252 million years ago from the end of Plaeozoic Era there was Tethys ocean containing salt water.   Himalayas &    Its Ranges :-  We have exploring Himalayas so mainly we can divide Himalayas in three divisions as under  and Trans Himalayas formed prior to the formation of Himalayas. The Greater Himalayas Mid Himalayas  Shivalik Hills or Sub Himalayas  Tans - Himalayas  Shivalik Hills Or Sub Himalayas or Outer Himalayas:- So we can group the Himalayan ranges in four parallel longitudinal mountain ranges. These from South to North as the the lowest hills called outer Himalayas or sub Himalayas also called Shivalik range . Mid Himalayas :- It is also called lesser or Lower Himalayas.
